When Mothership Δ-294 requested additional supplies from the Rikti homeworld the shipping manifest suffered damage, and the scrambled request for more bombs was received as an order for more Heavy Assault Suit power cores.

Due to the delay in communications with the homeworld, U'kon Gr'ai ordered engineering to repurpose the excess power cores into make-shift explosives by overloading the core's psychic interface matrix to create localized psionic nullification zones, spaces that are mentally devastating to anything that isn't a Rikti.
