The Direct Urban Strike Team, or D.U.S.T., are an elite unit of the T.E.S.T. forces equipped to deal with counterinsurgency and urban combat. They are trained to deal with the Devouring Earth and other unusual threats, making them the premier force for deployment in times of dire need. They are equipped with a unique variant of standard T.E.S.T. armor and with a specialized plasma cannon that has a variety of firing modes. The Rangers are among the most elite soldiers in the PPD, able to survive deployments in harsh conditions for months at a time.
